Pelosi Reads Account Inaccurately Оf Those Who Signed Тhe Declaration Оf Independence

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi was taking part to supposedly teach a history lesson on the 56 people who signed the U.S. Declaration of Independence on Tuesday, but turned out reading one part that had earlier been proven to have some imprecisions.

Pelosi read the piece while at the event held by Democratic lawmakers to talk about the “Democrats for Democracy Reform Legislative Package” and #wethepeople campaign. The legislative package and campaign is a so-called “task force” concetrated at “[reforming] government to ensure it works for all Americans.”

The article, named “The Price They Paid,” was a well-known essay going around the internet on Independence Day. The piece defines the fates of those who signed the Declaration of Independence, but according to the fact checkers at Snopes, “many of its details are inaccurate.”

Pelosi began with the reading after her Democratic coworkers talked about how the establishment of the U.S. system of government was shattering from monarchal rule, under which rulers usually acted in their own self-interest and not for the citizens.

“It’s July. We came back from the Fourth of July celebration and I saw this article,” Pelosi stated.

Pelosi started to read the account wrongly defining the fates of the men who signed the Declaration of Independence.

After she ended with the reading, Pelosi asked the audience to “ponder the sacrifices so many people made at the start of our country.”

“Understand what our responsibility is to protect what so many people sacrificed so much to achieve for our country,” Pelosi continued.
