According to a Trump aide, the newly elected President Trump is invited to the White House by President Obama before the inauguration ceremony. Donald Trump is taking office on January 20.
The Donald Trump and his wife will ride with the Obama family to the Capitol for the inauguration after the meeting according to the chairman of the inaugural committee Tom Barrack.
Barrack said, “They’ll go to the White House, invited for coffee or tea, they’ll spend an half an hour there or so, and then they’ll go together. That’s a great moment.”
This invite Tom Barrack described it as very gracious.
But this should not be surprising because it is a longstanding tradition the successors to be invited by the sitting presidents to the White House on the morning of Inauguration Day.
The Obamas and Bidens also had a meeting with the sitting President George W. Bush and first lady Laura Bush before the inauguration ceremony on January 20, in 2009.
